IQ does the Australian Small Business Championship Awards

On Saturday evening some of the IQ team attended the 2018 Australian Small Business Championship Awards as finalists in the Accounting Services category.   The evening was held at The Star Casino in Sydney and prior to attending, we were told it was “the oscars for Small Business.”  With this in mind, I should not have been surprised to walk in and see this……which of course we took as a fabulous photo opportunity.495E772A-2210-4946-91A6-E9B6EBFC0551What a fantastic night we had! There were over 45 awards presented over every imaginable business category and with each speech of acceptance, I was reminded bit by bit of how amazing the small businesses in Australia contribute to our economy and the impact that we have on so many levels.

The Accounting category had many worthy finalists and while we did not come away with the win, I felt no disappointment.  I looked around the table at the happy faces (in some cases exceptionally happy – no doubt helped by the open bar) and I just felt exceptionally grateful.  I’m grateful to be in an industry that I am passionate about almost 20 years into my career.  I’m grateful for all of our fabulous clients who support us and that there are so many long term clients who are genuinely part of our IQ family.  But mostly I’m grateful for my team, they work unbelievably hard every single day to make my IQ dream a reality.

Steve Loe, the founder of the awards said the Australian Small Business Champion Awards were a way of recognising the efforts of small business people whose efforts contribute to the prosperity and vitality of communities and local economies across the nation.  He said it far more eloquently than I could but I think it’s an important message for all small business owners – you are making a difference.  It’s so easy to forget in the busyness of business!
